"This [moped resurgence] is a reflection of a deeper generational shift going on," says Neil Howe, a cultural historian and coauthor of "Millennials Rising: The Next Great Generation." "The idea of a big, bad, dangerous gas-guzzling machine is not the millennial style. They prefer something that is not only socially responsible in a big sense, but also in a little sense: It makes less noise, and it's less likely to get them into an accident."

Huh? complete BS but a fun read.

Yup. Naming, labelling, and essentiallizing generations is not only in and of itself bullshit, but furthermore spews some absurd unresesearched drivel in popular usage too. Good times.

Still, interesting read. I guess those of us caught between the maketechture of "Generation X" and "Millenials" are just not interesting to marketoids, eh?

What generation am I again? I can't ever keep those demographic labels straight and without some external validation from marketers I can't be sure if I'm cool or not...

Yeah, well try being caught between the Boomer and X generations.

Yeah Kevin, I asked them to hold the booth next to me at the Maplewood Denny's for you. We don't use canes anymore, we just honk the horns on our Rascals at dem dam yung kids.

I thought that the reference to Jimmy Carter's America was rather fitting since we are now paying for his mistakes decades later. I bet the author of the article drives a nice big safe SUV with an enviromental plate.
