I've had requests from numerous out-of-towners that are looking for scooter loaners or rentals.

They are not people that know anybody here. So far they're all people that usually ride new scooters.

If anybody knows of a place, let me know and I'll post it.

I got this PMed to me:

Hi Lisa,

The only place that I've ever known of is Midwest Motorcylce.

http://www.midwestmotorcycle.com/

I've never rented from there so I have no opinions/feedback.

Thank you!

Last year I talked to the folks at Midwest Motorcycle. They had a 1/2 day and a 24-hr rental rate for scooters (very limited selection). However, last year's Skooter Du date coincided with Sturgis (as this year probably does too?) and their store would be closed because the entire staff was gone. They told me that if I committed to renting a scoot they'd make special arrangement to have someone come in to open the store for me. However, I declined, and rode in the rally as a passenger.

They did ask a lot of questions about Skooter Du, and were surprised that they hadn't heard of it before. They felt it was something they certainly should know about and be involved in.

I don't know what they have available this year, because now I have my own scooter and have no need to rent!!

Note to possible renters:

If you ride a scooter regularly, have the skills and the protective gear and are just renting for the rally because you couldn't get yours here, great. Please join in the fun.

If you do not ride regularly, have little or no experience riding in a group, lack an mc liscense and/or think that flip flops and a tank top are appropriate gear for riding a scooter, please do not participate in any of the rides.

Also worthy of note: 2SB had a link to the new MSF group riding video:

http://www.msf-usa.org/downloads/MSF-GroupRide.wmv

I thought just about everything was useful for our ride except that we don't shift to single file really, just increase the distance as needed.[/url]
