Does it only work if they're inexpensive?

No, but it works better if you tell her how much fun you'll have riding it together.

Yes, new BMW's don't count. Old BMW's may.

So you're saying a F650GS doesn't count, but a 1983 R65 may?

That is correct. With the '65, you're allowed to say, "What, this old thing, this other guy...
*Gave it to me
*Sold it to me cheap
*Gave it to me in a trade for my spree
*I found it in a barn"

You're golden as long as you only use your secret stash/gas money/parking allowance and the purchase is not traceable. No use of household funds allowed.

Of course all spouses/partners know better - But as long as the said purchase is not too aggregious (like a NEW BMW) you're good.

It's also bad, especially in the winter, to let your toys take up your spouses garage space. But garage management is a whole other topic.

The 48-Hour Rule or “You Had Your Chance" -

Ah but you see, I'm good at math but even if I weren't I think I could figure out that between its absence in the morning when I took my scooter out, and its presence in the evening when I put my scooter back, that I noticed it in less than 48 hours.

What matt should've done is sneaked it in while I was out of town for four days. he could've potentially hid it under the loft, where I probably wouldn't have noticed it at least until spring.

Of course that's assuming he had a whole day free to rearrange the garage, I mean scooter museum.

Speaking of which, I wonder where we are going to stick Kenny when he comes back from his R&R .... my (ahem) new scooter is taking up his spot!

All he did was move it out from UNDER the loft!

And put everything else back exactly where it was.

He's crafty like that.
