Meth lab would be a great off season money maker, but I'm guessing you'd have trouble with fire codes with that too..

Rent is probably a lot lower than employee costs, but still might be to high to make it work. I like the storage idea - if you could secure the place.

Rent's THE killer - not EE costs.

That's too bad. I love the place..... I think the area had a lot to do with it... Like out in the middle of no-where land without a lot of foot traffic.. and no, not the dealer kind..

Oh, yeah, right in the middle of nowhere, at Central and Hennepin.

ya but it is hard to get at.... there are better areas that would/could pull more non-bikers/coffee drinkers... I am sad to see them close...

How is it "hard to get at"? It's on a main street!

Yeah, centrally located, but zero foot traffic, and not a lot of cars going in that direction in the morning, especially when there is a chain located next to every office. Also pretty much an exclusive biker audience.

The Diamonds guy was handing out cards yesterday. I got beat-up on the Ducati board about thinking it was tacky because I guess Tom was OK with it.

*Diamonds is owned by riders.
*Diamonds and Betty's have done joint events together.
*There isn't any rivalry between the two.

SO the big question now is, where do people, on motorized two wheelers, hang out now? Diamonds? Bob's Java Hut? (I've heard it's under new management)
Anesthesia mentioned another place, possibly near Bob's.
Why is this even relevant, you ask? Hey, it's always nice to have a place to meet before and after rides. I prefer somewhere that isn't a McChain.

I like Bob's... I used to ride on down there a lot when I lived on Groveland and Nicollet....

Well, Wilde Roast does constantly brisk business, less than a block away.
So I'm with 433 on this one.

I can think of other much more important factors than geographic location which likely contributed to their demise... but it is too bad, whatever the ultimate straw was.[/quote]

I can think of one reason I didn't go there more often, but if Tom hadn't figured it out, well...

Even though it's hard to get y'all there, a number of die-hard Italian-nighters are going to relocate to Diamonds tonight - 7pm-ism, if you want to come.

CRC (cars are coffins) coffeeshop a few blocks down Lyndale from Luce is pretty cool.

n

(still disappointed at the general lackluster wave I got from TNR crowd on the East River Road a few weeks ago.)

Nice to know that Italian night will soldier on.

I'll have to try to find CRC.

I know of Cars-R-Coffins coffee shop. it's on lyndale close to pizza luce. i can't remember the cross street.
but it's bicycle themed coffee shop. but hurl, the owner, didn't mind when i parked my scooter out front. he just smiled.
