The North Shore Drive is scenic and relaxing, HWY 1 to Ely is unbelievable. It is a roller coaster ride. It has every kind of turn, apex, up, down, twists, etc... It just keeps going and going. Just when you think it cant possibly get any better, it does. There's a point when you think, I should u-turn an go through that section again, but it just gets better. Scenic, yes, I think so. I was enjoying the ride to much to care. It was cold, and it was between the kayakers and hunters traffic, best time to go, no cars, SUV's or RV's. I had HWY 1 all to myself. The turns are tighter than anything I have ever experienced. It is worth the trip and when your done, turn around and do it again, and again. I had a permanent smile on my face for a week.
I may be a little biased. I was on a KLR650, hitting the turns SuperMoto Style. Having 9" of travel front and rear makes almost every road smooth. From what I remember it was in good condition with minimal pot holes.
My everyday commute (until they close it for winter) is Hawks Ridge (skyline parkway) to 7 bridges road to my work. 7 bridges dumps me out at my office. That is a great ride, a little bumpy on a scooter, but great tight turns and historic bridges. It's why I traded Stella for the KLR. That is worth checking out as well as Hawks Ridge. |

Hi Marty,
Yes, I'm planning on going to the rally in August.
If I get over to the eastern part of the state I'll be sure to look you guys up.
Enjoy the weather!

Yeah, he actually had a "for sale" tag on it at the August '06 rally.
Me, I'm too dumb for one of those dual sports myself. ;) Now an old BSA on the other hand mmmm.....
Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Marty,
Thanks for the tip. Yes, I do also have a Lambretta and I am definitely interested in this one. However, right now I'm in China teaching for a month. If he can wait I'll give him a call as soon as I get back toward the end of June. BTW any of the model and how much he wants?
I'll check back here early next week.
Thanks again,
Tom |
