here is the link to the company where I bought my scooter from http://www.zsimports.com/

Click on the Vehicle link at the top of the page and you can see the scooters this place has fixed and sold.

The guy used mostly liquid gasket and a really thin piece of metal just a little thicker than tin foil for the base gasket. From what I could tell the oil was coming from the base gasket area?

Any other areas I should check before I put the engine back together?

To answer your question:
Contact Bill Bune. I think he's in Anoka. He's in the book. He did a fine job with a PX 150 bore. It's always best to provide the new piston so that the shop can match it precisely.

I would guess those are Indian "restos". Those Lambrettas look like API's.
I could be wrong but I doubt those are "restored" in the U.S. I bet he imports lots of parts from Indian and had a line on scooters.

There are many things that make a vintage scooter work right or wrong.

You can believe what you want but those are totally Asian imports.  The glovesboxes, the crash bars, the electric start, 10" wheels on 8" bikes are but a few of the obvious things to tip you off.
