Just in case you didn't know it, Apple is going to release a device on Friday which is going to totally revolutionize telecommunications as we know it.

(I didn't want this to be the only website on the internet that doesn't have some mention of the thing.)

Word on the street is that Jobs got busted with a freighter full of kind bud and smack from the afghan kush and the feds pushed this device on him as part of a secret plea agreement. The back dated stock options were just a ruse to cover thier hook marks in him. The smudgephone will collect voice patterns and fingerprints of every person that touches it or speaks near it and have them pinpointed via gps. It's ingenious stuff from the evil minds at Homeland Security.

Did you apply for the weekend job at gizmodo? I wonder if/how much they pay?

yeah. Every scooter message board was talking about it being a scooter that drove itself and would be shaped like a GS160.

I miss the days of excitement over Ginger.

Brooke's story was the most interesting iPhone coverage I've read yet, I think. I think you'd make a better writer for Giz than I would. I'd probably shoot myself after having to force myself to write 10 new iPod stories every day.

I'm hoping a rotary dial version with a neighborhood party line comes out right away. It'll be an upgrade from the old army surplus crank field phone. Now all I need until I get my new phone is a new needle for the old wind up victrola. I think I'll skip the ipod, and go straight for the new phone. I'm so into new technology I can hardly wait.

This is where I say that while I own an iPod, I much prefer to use the wind up (metal) music box for all my portable music needs. It plays a bitchin rendition of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. I think it's time to re-oil it though, because the crank is getting a little stiff to operate. I don't know if I should opt for a full teardown/rebuild, or just apply some oil? Synthetic or dino? 3 in 1 or Kroil? It's a confusing hobby.

I've been thinking about changing the gear ratios so I can hear it really fast.
I also might upgrade from an 18 note movement to this 50 note monster:

Why the hell is everybody all wrapped up in steampunk lately? It's like it's a brand new idea.

I think tech speed is catching up with our attentions span and bigger faster stronger just isn't cool enough. Guilded lillies must merge with the hyperspaces! I think it's cool until I imagine owning something like that. Then it becomes rapidly uncool. I think some of the stuff that gets reported as steampunk misses the mark (whatever that is). Now decopunk, I think that'd be something I could wrap my head around. I think I just made that up though. Nope, google tells me otherwise.
