I took a tour on a Segway at Riverplace today. It was a work-sponsored fun event. Totally nerdy cool, seventeen of us with bike helmets tooling around the riverfront on human transporters. Riding the Segway's was sweet. It's rather intuitive. The "history tour" portion of the event was rather lacking in content, but it was free. Kinda spendy if you were to pay your own money, but a neat opportunity to get a few hours on Segway.

Not an endorsement, but if you're interested: www.humanonastick.com

Wow, $70?

I've often thought about taking that tour, but not now that I know how much they're charging. Besides, I could probably give a better Minneapolis history tour myself.

I forgot to mention the real scooter part of the story. I tried to park in the Riverplace ramp 'cuz I didn't want to leave my scoot unlocked on the street. I couldn't trip the gate to get in, so the attendant had to come over. After checking with her manager, they wouldn't let me park there, so I ended up parking on the sidewalk and locked up to a signpost.

I was sure I was gonna get a ticket, and when I got back to my scoot, I saw that a car parked at a meter near me did have a ticket. The scooter gods must have been smiling on me yesterday because I didn't get one--unless it blew away in all the wind . . ..
