Hey all - my step-brother's band (he's the drummer) is in town from Portland tonight @ the Triple Rock. Below are details via City Pages. You know, just in case you didn't have any other plans. Or something.

You can hear their sound at www.theprids.com

~~~~
The Prids
Triple Rock Social Club
The Prids, Portland's animal-loving rock band, are on tour following the release of their latest EP, serving up dreary post-punk with dark indie-inspiration and a side of PETA-like politics. The group debuted in 2003 and has since put a lot of time into performing at animal-rights benefits and promoting their dedication to veganism. Expired teenage love left the bassist and guitarist divorced, yet the former couple continue to live in the same co-op and share music writing responsibilities. The "three dudes and a chick" sound like an exhausted version of the Klaxons and a moodier adaptation of Interpol, lacing together ambient keyboard and meditative guitar melodies into a hypnotic and somber rock-a-bye. With Theythedownlow. $5/$7 at the door. 9:00 p.m. 629 Cedar Ave. S., Minneapolis; 612.333.7399. —Amber Schadewald
Joey Maas is your stepbrother?!?!
We used to load a ton of kids in my '76 Ford Granada to go "yelling". We'd go up and down the cruising strip, pull up next to a bitchin' camaro or what have you, and say, "Hey! NICE CAR!" and inevitably, the chowderhead in that car would take offense at our tone and start chasing us. Then Joey would lean out the window and give them the middle finger (I think his middle fingers are approximately 8" long.) Then we'd drive around with the tail, laughing all the time. Then we'd goad them into pulling alongside us, I'd slam on the brakes and make a quick turn, and thus ditch them.
Ahh, high school years in a small town.
Yep, sure is. That sounds about right too... crazy fingers. It's amazing to me that he didn't do piano or anything, but he got into drumming at like age 7.
Love that story!
Shouldn't Matt be at the show instead of being on the computer? Hmph.
thanks NATE for coming out in support of the band. they unfortunately played to their audience of just a handfull in a quick & dirty set of about 8 songs.
*sigh*
they're coming back sometime in september/october which will be nice. hopefully NOT on a Monday night.
