Someone has uploaded many of these British Pathe films. This one has been on YouTube for quite some time. There's another with a Lambretta or Vespa with pontoon floats. Cute. The scooter, usually a Lambretta in G.B. as it was the biggest selling two wheeler, was marketed as an economical way to get out of the city for a holiday. Post war Britain was wallowing in a major recession and most Britons could not afford a car, so the scooter was the main personal transport and there were all kinds of crazy accesories made to go with your Lambretta.
This formed the basis of the scooterist rally culture, where the scooter is used as transport to get there, unlike here in the US where the car/pickup/suv is used to carry you and your scooter to an event, even when the event is only 20 or 30 miles away.
