Only 55 mpg? You're pounding that thing.

The 2002 Bajaj at 10,000 miles:
One clutch cable
One rectifier
One battery
One headlight bulb
2 new tires
1 new carb
Unknown gas mileage, but was getting about 80 before the great carb leak of 2007.
5 quarts of oil

Probably should go through it this winter. New rear tire, new shocks, new brake shoes, repack front wheel bearing, new inner cables. Don't know if I'll drop it at scooterville or do the work myself.

What the hell? Everything else mostly makes sense.

Good advertising for Bajaj.

Heh. Yeah, the speedo and I did some serious fighting late this summer. One of those speedo cables was back about a year ago, the other three were in a period of two weeks. I was victorious - only after some help from Stephen.

Would be, if they built them anymore.

Can still get parts for them and parts and used bikes are cheap. Not nearly the performance options as the two-strokes, but maybe it's a good thing to leave it stock.

You're not kidding! When I went through and tabulated my gas usage / cost / mileage this morning, I noticed that the mileage dropped from ~75 mpg before I kitted it, to ~40 mpg when I first kitted it, to ~50 once I figured out how the hell to jet, to ~65 since mid-summer when I went back to the stock jug. There was a while there in January-march 2006 when I was getting about 35 mpg (jetted WAY rich!).

I think he really means 20 miles per gallon while he's towing his scooter behind the car.

At least that's what his mom told me.
