Hey guys,
I am having some problems with the T5 I recently purchased. It is really hard to get started when cold. Once it is running it runs great and is super fast, but starting it has always been hard. Usually to get it started I have to roll down one of the hills I live on and cruise for almost in a block in 2nd before it kicks over.
Any ideas?
P.S. When I bought it I replaced the lay shaft, kick start bushings, circumform and a new motor bearing. That was a few months ago. |

How's the spark plug? A fresh one of those can make the difference. |

Carb and specifically the choke system.
Seals
Cylinder bore/rings/piston - Compression?
Rotary pad damage
Ignition system
And remember half of ignition system problems are carb related. |

Well I replaced the plug and it is still doing it, mostly when cold, although sometimes when it is warm. I have talked to some of my friends that work on motorcycles and they think the carb needs to be rebuilt. They, and therefore I as well, believe it may be leaking fuel and flooding out. I know it is flooding, I just think it's odd that it happens when the fuel is off...
Sooooo, what I ask from you scooter guys is where I can get a rebuild kit for the carb. Should I just call American Scooter Center or? I would like to avoid Scooterworks if possible...

Does it start more easily if you take the plug out, kick it a few times (purge flooded gas from the system, and eject it out the plug) and then reassemble?
Maybe the fuel tap isn't actually "off", but it's only "kind of off".
What's the fuel tap scenario on the T5? Since it's not a US bike I don't think you'd end up in the situation of a P200 where you have a goofy petcock/valve mapping situation. But maybe if someone were to have started swapping out parts froma P200 because they were 'close enough' some wonkiness could occur, I guess. |
