what are your thoughts about these two? Any opinions about which might be a better scooter? 2 stroke or 4 stroke? Are 2 strokes better than 4 and vice versa?

Thanks.

Totally different bikes with about the same specs.

It's a matter of taste. Like buying a coat or a hat. If the "vintage" look is what turns you on you have to buy the Stella. If you don't care about looks and want reliable transportation buy the Kymco.

It's that simple. You can go crazy studying the details, pros and cons, but those are not important.

Think about why you want a scooter and how you are going to ride it. If this is totally about efficient transportation and commuting (you wear out clutch cables shifting through downtown minneapolis) - go with the Kymco

If you're into "the scene" or want to tinker, Stella is the way to go.

I have to throw in a plug for Bajaj - Steel bodied shifter with a 4-stroke engine. An alternative thinker sort of machine...

I chose a 4-stroke specifically because the smell of 2-stroke exhaust doesn't particularly agree with me. It's OK to get a whiff every now and again, but nothing I wanted to live with daily. And I chose a manual transmission because I wanted to have a closer connection to the total driving experience. When I purchased in 2002, Bajaj was the only 4-stroke, manual transmission available, so Bajaj it was, and I've been pleased.

If you don't like the smell of two stroke, you haven't been buying enough Ipone!

I'm a sucker for a gimmick.

Another vote for Ipone. I run it in the scooter and the weed whacker. My Dad is running it in an outboard motor & is convinced he's poluting the lake less. If you think two strokes smell bad, it's the solution.

Don't forget that it really does a good job of keeping the skeeters at bay....an if you use enuf oil, a 2 stroke can be used as a fog machine....

It's a different sort of power. I can't speak for the Stella, but my Bajaj is so quiet I can't hardly hear it at stop signs and has a ton of torque compared to my old 2-stroke Vespa.

The 2-stroke Stella makes power at higher rpm's. A bit sportier ride. And you got that cool rat-tat-tat thing going on.

The People is a four-stroke auto. Your basic magic carpet ride.

As Derrick says, whatever trips your trigger. They all cost about the same.

i like the bajaj too. i like that look better. i'm not thinking too much about the people anymore. can't say i like its design. the stella and bajaj have the look i like. i like the idea of some get up and go, but the higher polution rate for the 2 stroke has me concerned. i guess i'd have to ride the stella and the bajaj to see which one turns my crank more.
