Hello All,

Last night I made a run from my house to Marine on St. Croix. Not to bad of a ride. I took monemedi road to HWY96 and made a breif stop at Starbuck's in Stillwater for a tastey treat. Then I blazed a trail up to Marine on St. Croix. It is a fast ride and ya gotta be able to hold 55 mph or the cars start to get annoyed. There are a few good sized hills that did slow me down, but the view is great! I did pull off to the shoulder to let them pass.

All in all, it is 86 miles round trip from my house, and only a small part of the ride is 55, the rest is 45-50 mph limit.... I can't wait for duluth...

Man, you are enthused.

I don't think that 96 to Stillwater is bad, but 95 north can move for a 55 mph road. I think that it's because there are no stop signs between Stillwater and Taylor's Falls.

The trouble is, there are not alot of alternatives. Manning ave is 55 mph. So is 97 and 8. Eight is under construction and goes into Taylors Falls. So I figure that we might as well ride the pretty route, 95 from Stillwater to Oseola.

If cars stack up, we can pull over. Otherwise, they might be able to pass us just fine if we stay to 45.

35 in Wisconsin is slower than 95, IMOH. Adam from Minn-Max said that 35 is a nice route.

MinnMax is having a ride this saturday from the Caribou in North Oaks, 96 and Hodgen Road in Shoreview. They are running the back roads to Lindstrom. It would be interesting to see where they go.

Oh, you might have been in the rush hour traffic. The bridge is closed in Stillwater. On Saturday morning it might look different.

95 isn't too bad, but about 5 cars got behind me a long the way. How about hwy 5? I don't know where it goes, but north. I passed a short ways from hwy 95.

Humm... a milder route

Looking at mapquest, how about
* County Road E to 75th into Stillwater
* Owens St. N
* Norell Av N
* Olinda Trl N (through Scandia)
* 260th St east
* Cross 95 to 243 into Osceola

I might have to put up and ride this to check it out.

Brad,Dave. I followed that route on Google map and that sure looks like a good possibility for the route into Osceola ? look forward to hearing how it turns out. I am also looking forward to the Duluth Run !!

I've not been paying too much attention to the mapping discussion - has the plan changed for the first leg of the Duluth Run route? I'll happily follow like a lemming on Sept. 10...

Nothings firm until we get on the road : )

Seriously, the goals are the same, Oseola and Superior. We're just thinking that the MN leg up 95 from Stillwater to Oseola might be a little fast and are looking at a couple of alternative side roads for that stretch.

These dogone maps don't show enough detail.
