You're totally welcome, I'm sure there will be lots of folk involved and it will be fun.
I do have my own little club though, the requirement for membership is that your scooters have to either run so poorly that you don't go further than you can push your scooter home, or they have to be in pieces on the garage floor. The rides pretty much suck, so people aren't itching to get in or anything.

Hold on, let me lean out the mixture completely, rejet to somewhere in the low 70s with a DIY jet, take out the blue film around the air filter, add a performance pipe, leave the air bellows off and scrape the gunk Nate used to seal up my reed gasket. That way, when I meet for your new club's rides, after doing sixty down I-94, it will be ready to seize so hard the piston will become permanently attached to the jug...*
...then I can rebuild it completely and go on "vintage only" rides. :D
(Hey, Bob, will all that void my warranty? If so, then I didn't write this.)
BTW -- Lisa, you rock! If I can help in the long-range planning, I'll be there, otherwise count on me for any "day-of" job(s)

I wasn't trying to start a conversation. As far as who's rally it is I think I contributed enough time over the past four years to have an opinion about the future or lack thereof of Skooter Du.
My opinion is this:
Unless we get a lot more people who really are willing to help we might as well forget about it and call the whole thing off
Assuming we get a lot more help from the twin cities crew I have a few other opinions:
We keep the name Scooter Du going.
We loose the Husker Du naming, we loose all the album-related sub titling.
We also need to formally acknowledge the role that Matt has done for the rally and have some kind of ceremonial passing of the torch, because a lot of people missed that and it is important that we recognise it.
I appreciate what Lisa is doing in stepping up to the plate on this because it is a major pain in the ass.
I will do what I can to help.
If we change the name of the rally we need to change the name of this forum.
I guess assumptions have been made lacking perfectly clear statements. I take this to mean that this is Matt explicitly stating that "Skooter Du" is not to be used as a name for any future scooter rally? Is this correct?
If so, I recommend, Lisa, that you figure out the new Rally title right away and continuously use it from here on out in order to create the buzz. Kind of like Nissan cross-branding its Datsun brand. I can't imagine that there would be any confusion about the transition, but getting on this now without too much laboring over it will make the next 11 months so much easier to deal with. You know, "this ain't yer Momma's Skooter Du."
(cassette only, suckas...)
"And everybody wants to be special here
They call your name out loud and clear
Here comes a regular
Call out your name
Here comes a regular
Am I the only one here today?"
p.s.-moses, you ain't seizing shit with a 70 main...you'd be lucky to get it three-feet...

I agree with many views here... but one I won't yet agree to is the ditching of the rally name. I've been around here since before the first one and did the artwork and logo for several so excuse me if I feel a little bit of "ownership" in it. I think tossing the name, for some, has validity, but I would voice strongly my opinion that it has worked well for us so far and we've got six years of name recognition. I could care less about the album name theme thing, but Skooter Du is something I hold dear and why throw out the baby with the bath water? Tradition! Branding! Gratuitous use of umlauts! I say keep it. Retool the actual rally, the theme, whatever, but let's keep the good name.
