Well, I didn't argue the "run home without you" part.
I noticed. I walked home or watched a horses return without rider or driver many a time. Had to search for a few as well. They have a mind not their own when they get an urge to return, or leave the scene quickly. My first road rash was from horse road rage, not two wheeled bucking. My pony hung a sharp left towards home and hay, hit the curb with the cart and launched me butt first on the pavement. Then she stopped and curled her lip and laughed at me. Horses have a cruel sense of humor sometimes. Little kids are not immune to it either.
