I removed the battery from my Bajaj for the winter and am storing the thing in my efficiency apartment. Am I going to blow myself up or risk some "off gassing" that will kill me or do I need to store it somewhere else?

Drain ALL the gas out before you put it inside!

Screw that.

Leave the gas in there. Matha Stewart sez that winter stored scooters make excellent candle holders too, in case you were wondering.

edit:

I have been told that my humor does not always come across clearly on the intraweb so in case you did not notice I was kidding.

Someplace cool, not by the apartment heat source or in a hot utility closet with the water heater. Someplace dry, not on concrete, set in on something so if it does leak it doesn't ruin the floor. Outgassing is for cheap beer drinkers and really dead batteries. Store it fully charged and it shouldn't be a problem. Clean and grease the terminals so it's ready to go in spring.

Oh, just the battery.

Come on Joe, put the whole scooter in your living room. That would be cool.

Just don't drink the battery acid. It tastes really bad.

If you bring the whole scoot inside, you're Lisa.

And hey, it's supposed to be in the low 40s this weekend! I'm hoping to get one or two more rides in before The End.
