...they still might have free stuff though, so I'll keep on it for that at least. |

I got this email if anyone wants to follow up.

Hi,
I saw notice of your rally in Scoot Magazine. I’d like to discuss the possibility of being a sponsor. Please email or call. Thanks.

Amy put together a great list of sponsors from the last five years. If I post the list - could the rest of you let me know if you have connections at any of those spots?
Amy - could you email me that list (or post it).
I will seriously and for real start going at this next week and hopefully have exciting things to report at the meeting on the 19th.
THANKS! |

Matt, I'll try getting a hold of that sponsor. It seems a little weird to have someone approaching us to sponsor, but I'll give it a try.
Lisa, I emailed the list to you and I will talk to you when you get back from your lovely trip! |

Yay! They agreed to provide 160 tyvek bags. I'm picking them up this afternoon.
Amy, did you talk to that person in Atlanta? I can call them today if you didn't. I am goign to try to get a few more people pinned down before I leave for Hawaii tomorrow.
:)
Oh, and Matt - email me re: wrap |

Okay, so that was odd...somehow the subject didn't get through (operator error I'm sure). The subject was supposed to be "Dupont/Tyvek." |

(I don't think you can create a subject in an existing thread- you can only create a subject for a new thread. Not in a response.) |

Amy gets upset when the messages don't fall into the appropriate categories, so I'm moving the sponsorship discussion back to this board.
I received the following from Microsoft, Linux anyone?
---------------------------------------------------------------
Hello Lisa,
Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service.
We appreciate your interest in our community programs.
We have reviewed your request for the sponsor of your vintage motor scooter club with interest. We know how important it is and we regret to inform you that we will be unable to contribute. It is our hope that you will understand that we receive numerous requests of this nature and can only contribute to a limited number. Our guidelines preclude us from donating directly to individuals, sports teams, religious, political or fraternal organizations, hospitals or medical clinics.
Microsoft makes monetary and in-kind software donations to a wide variety of nonprofit tax-exempt organizations throughout the United States and internationally.
For more information about contributions Microsoft is making to communities around the world, our contribution guidelines, and eligibility criteria, please visit our Web site at: http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/citizenship/giving/
Microsoft Unlimited Potential (UP) is a global initiative that focuses on improving lifelong learning for underserved individuals. By providing technology skills through community technology and learning centers (CTLCs), Microsoft can partner with communities to create social and economic opportunities that can change peoples' lives. Ultimately, Microsoft is helping bridge the global technology gap by providing the training and tools people need to realize their potential.
Thank you for considering Microsoft as a potential contributor to your organization. We wish you continued success in your endeavors.
Please feel free to e-mail again for other questions or concerns you may have.
Thank you,

Could you please do me a favor and send links to scoots in the news. I think that it would be helpful to add some of that info to the sponsorship requests. Themes of scooter popularity growing (i remember an interview with Bob, but don't remember when, scooter people are cool (Amy and her super hot glasses), Kent seen all over town, blah blah blah....it might make us a more desireable group to give money/stuff to.
Thanks in advance!

I'm having a James Page Extra Pale Ale right now and finding it totally drinkable. I wouldn't turn my nose up at thier sponsorship. |

I heard back from their PR firm Thursday - they gave me the right contact info at the company and are putting in a good word for us. I have to do some actual work this morning, but I"ll be in touch soon.
I hope that they'll agree to help us out. |

No problem, just playing with the Law Library search functions. I did a national search and sent those to you also. |

I also learned something interesting. Vespa is still synonymous with scooters. A search of scooters turned up all sorts of garbage, but when I searched on Vespa, the relevant articles turned up.
Maybe I'll try to set up the search to happen daily or weekly and post links to scooter articles as they occur. |
