Which further proves my point of finding a neutral starting point and alternating St. Paul and Mpls. routes.

Saint Paul... seems to ring a bell. Little town that dominates the east suburbs, right? You know, I think I remember the 1990 census mentioning this town after a hyphen with Minneapolis. But the 2000 census didn't do that - it was just the Minneapolis metro area.

St. Paul is located somewhere between Minneapolis and Oakdale. I've heard that in St. Paul you might find a bar or two that celebrates St. Patrick's Day.

Tom Lindsay is being silly because the proposed new start location would be so very close to his home, I think.

Poll's not over (is it?) but I'm interested in the alternating stpaul/minneapolis routes. You're right, nobody joined us midstream, so it's mostly a novelty to have "scheduled stops".

Oooh, here's an idea. TNR starts at Lake Harriet. WNR starts in St Paul, ThNR starts in Eagan, FNR starts in Coon Rapids, SaNR starts in Woodbury... etc. :)

And as for the route never getting boring, I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that we could go either clockwise or counter-clockwise. That was really helpful. While a StPaul/Betties route wouldn't have that mix, a StPaulBettiesViaStPaul and a StPaulBettiesViaMinneapolis would be cool.

And I get to use more mapping software.

So just assuming it was both routes alternating, anyone have any "must see" spots in either city? I have a lot of idea for a St Paul route, but for a Mpls route it would be fun to come up with some new scooter thorofares.

The Lamplighter in St. Paul.

Yes, I kid because I love. Most of Saint Paul is closer to my house than half of Minneapolis, and ultimately I can't imagine anywhere in St. Paul that would be any farther from my house than the Lake Harriet Bandshell. On the other hand, nowhere in St. Paul except the Ford plant is as beautiful a ride from my house as the Harriet Bandshell - parkways the whole way for me.

But seriously, "twin"? How twin is it anymore :-P

Living about a mile from the Harriet bandshell makes me a little biased too, and I don't even class on Tuesday nights anymore so I could actually come. Since you mention the ford parkway, how about the Minnehaha falls as a meeting spot and still do mostly the same route? Just to add to the endless possible variations. Course that's bad for the North side riders.

How about starting at the summit end and riding summit ave and cutting over the smith high bridge and then somehow getting up to larpentuer and then over to mnpls to cut over and down the river road and then from there......?

I only was able to make the TNR once last year, but hope to hit it at least a few times in 2006. My own preference is the Harriet band shell or Minnehaha Falls park as a starting point. Easy to get to, off street parking, convenient restrooms.

I really enjoyed last season. The TNR concept is awsome.
Input: Meeting at Lake Harriet was okay. We sat around the
one parking stall for motorcycles and awaited the gang to
arrive. Starting and stopping at Bettys would be better. At
Bettys you can (1) get a drink, (2) lots of parking, (3) support
Bettys. Additionally, we are only moments off the old route.

Of course, I will meet anywhere because Tuesday gives me
max flexibility away from family weekend stuff. I say Bettys
is a great idea.
