Saw this from a trendwatching newsletter I get.
http://www.reevu.com/

Looks kinda nifty but I wonder about the safety of that back panel.

Wow! That looks super cool. Kind of like a rear view mirror in a car. Anyone know if they are available locally yet?

It's a great idea, wonder if it works.

I too am curious about the safety of having a hole in the shell. The only mention of safety is in the press release where it states the helmet "is designed to meet international standards". Nowhere do they state the helmet has been tested and meets any standard.

Had to go look at the web site to figure this out. I was picturing someone with linda blairs head in a motorcycle helmet doing the twist to look out the back window. How does this work when someone has the hi-beam headlights shining at the back of your helmet at night? Does it light up the inside of your visor and blind you? It's one of those things that you just gotta get your hands on and head into to try it out.

From the FAQ page on the webiste

Q: What about the glare from vehicles coming from behind?
A: The helmet has a series of reflective surfaces that limit the intensity of light hitting the front reflective surface. This limits the intensity of reflected light significantly. Even a slight turn of the head can ensure the reflective light path is stopped. Find out more on the safety & design page.

The views they show from inside the helmet look pretty cool.

Interesting concept. Look forward to seeing it in person. Perhaps one of the exhibitors at the Motorcycle Show the first weekend in February will have one on display.

I did run across an article on the helmet at
Gizmag, but it doesn't really say anything more than can be found on Reevu's website.

Speaking of which, will there be any organized effort to make it to the Motorcycle Show? Will Scooterville be there this year? Any other exciting scooter-related activities?
