What: TNR, or Tuesday Night Ride

Who: People on scooters. Old, new, fast, slow (although doing 35 is a Good Idea. Less than that may leave you lagging behind).

When: Tuesdays. Meet between 6:30 and 7:00pm, ride departs at 7:00.

Where: Begins at Summit avenue on the Mississippi river, by the monument. Ends at Betties Bikes and Buns. A typical fifteen minute drive, we will stretch it out to 20 miles in an hour or more or less or so.

Why: Ride, baby, ride.

While I'm planning the route, it's less of a Me thing and more of a Whomever Shows thing. I try and be there every week, moreso in the spring, just to burn the route into the memory of others.

Rules? No official rules or anything, just be not dumb.

Ride like a nice person, wave at people who wave at us, or at least smile. Wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident. Don't make fun of the person on the Vino, but feel free to coerce them into a larger scoot. Leave plenty of space between people, expecially early in the season. Don't go too fast. Stop the smell the roses. Take in the scenery. But lots of stuff at Betties. Bring extra oil, strawberry is always nice. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

Poorly PDF'd map of the proposed Saint Paul route located at link below. Ideally alternating the Saint Paul Route with a Minneapolis route, start and end points the same.

Holy crap, I could practically spit on the start location from my house - but I won't. So what about tonight? Is this the first run of the season? I think I can talk Kathy into putting Maeve to bed...

By the way, this is start/stop location choice is brilliant because it means we could basically do last year's TNR route using the same start/stop locations. This does mean *my* TNR night will involve a lot less miles than last year, which is kind of sad, but oh well.

Yeah, this is the first one I know about.

Enjoy the start location, I got grumbles at the fact that I have to leave earlier this year. And yeah we could do last year's route from there. I'm still looking into a new Mpls route, but there's not a lot of fun riding in longfellow, etc without taking the Same Old Roads.

There are some Longfellow folks who would probably disagree, but yeah, for the most part the River Road is our best scootering road - otherwise it's rectangular blocks. But really, I don't think I could really tire of the River Road.

So if I drive south on the East River Road from Lake Street, will I eventually see the monument starting point? I'm asking more for future reference than anything, as I recently upgraded from a twist n' go to a manual transmission and am not fit to be riding anywhere other than a two block radius around my house (my only experience ever with a manual transmission anything was at motorcycle skool last fall). I suspect the scooter senses the fear in my heart and is taunting me . . .

Also, is there really decent-smelling oil out there?

I for one really like the smell of Motul 600 - smells like a scooter. But I guess that probably isn't what you mean by "decent-smelling". The Ipone strawberry is pretty close to odorless, so it's probably a good choice.

Anyway, does anybody want to ride tonight? It'll be cool but otherwise looks to be good.

I could probably show up, but I'd be on the K.

The monument is just south of Lake street. Well, Marshall stree t, technically. There's a small parking lot right where Summit and River Road intersect.

Thanks Josh, I'd been pondering the question, "What does Josh's ass smell like?" for a while now.

This is what my ass smells like:

My scooter's ass smells like this:

But more to the point:

Anybody want to TNR tonight?

See how I made TNR into a verb?

I think my blood sugar is low; must go get lunch...

Yeah, Tom, I'll be there, hopefully closer to 6:30 than 7:00. It's likely to be a bit chilly tonight, especially after it gets dark. But I'm really excited to go.

This will probably be a "does this route suck?" run maybe with the GPS going on, etc. And Betties coffee of course.
