I'd prefer the the side of the U by the Alumni Building (scooterville side of main campus). I'm pressed for work, attending a conference and might skip out of the presentations that I've seen before to do my real job - OK, that's not cruising the internet : )
Looks like there might be a couple wifi spots very close to the Gateway bldg.

I get a connection inside Village Wok from somewhere around there - I don't remember where. maybe Big Ten? Anyway, there are plenty of free wifi spots if you look around.
The U's wilreless network is pretty pervasive, but their wirewall does a pretty good job (not perfect though) of blocking unauthenticated access. It used to allow ping and DNS, so I had an IP-over-ICMP gateway running in my basement to allow me to tunnel all my traffic over ping; the same trick worked with DNS. But not any more...
