Good luck. You're going to need it.

Are you talking about new or vintage? That is a pretty low budget for what your asking for, although not unheard of. I've seen some early '00's Bajaj Chetaks go for somewhere around that...

From what I've seen in the used scoot market, you're about $700 too low in your budget if you want something decent.

Budget, what's that?

Seriously, I don't think that you'll be able to find a decent newer runner for that. Maybe you'd be able to get an kitted allstate or some such animal.

I think you'd be better off to take out a loan and get something a little better. I saw a low mileage Stella in the Strib on Sunday for $2500.

A scooter that needs a little work usually ends up costing more than buying a good runner by the time you get done fixing it.

There was a p200 on craigslist for $1500 not too long ago, just check that out every day and you may find something. There are deals out there you just have to be at the right place at the right time.

yeah.
i've gotten two old p-series for friends that were both $1000...
...although that isn't usually the asking price!
Keep your eyes peeled!

welcome to vintage scooter ownership. p's (in good working order) are great bikes and there's lot's of parts, information, help and other stuff available for them.

my old live-in girlfriend had a '79 p200e that i rode to work while my Rally engine was being rebuilt back in the day. i really dug that bike except it had the worn out engine bushings so it was a little goofy in the back-end. if you coulda gotten that fixed it would have been perfect...
