Sounds like the Mille Lacs run (which was proposed for this weekend) isn't happening this weekend. I've been kicking around the idea of a Hastings run, and at the TNR some people said they would be interested in coming along. So why not actually plan it?

Starts and ends at Rice Park in Saint Paul. Go down the river through South Saint Paul (little side trip to the remains of the last toll bridge in the state), follow the river all the way around to Hastings, cross the river (twice) and go through Prescott, up through Hudson, and stop in Stillwater. From there return to Rice Park.

Eats and scenic stops here and there, it's a pretty loose itinerary. The whole route is 75 miles or so, and my computer says it could take as little as three hours. But my computer doesn't like to stop for iced coffee.

There might be short highway segments, but we'll avoid that as much as possible. And on the Wisconsin side we'll be on WI 35 a lot, so you'd have to be able to maintain 50 or more. Show up with a full tank, all the oil you can eat, and extra clutch cables if needed.

Saturday's weather WAS "rain" but that's moved on to Sunday so I'm hoping it'll be partly cloudy, etc. Could be a good day for a ride.

Here's a PDF of the proposed route: (5 meg or so)

(You'll note there's no official start time. I think that's going to be debated. I can't start until after noon, but 12:30 or 1:00 would work for me.)

gee, matt...
this "ride planning" really comes as second nature to you...
you don't even have to do anything anymore.

Ok, new start/end point. Apparently there are going to be 13,000 children in Rice Park on Saturday.

So the parking lot at Harriet Island should be safe:

While in Hastings, why not pretend for an hour or two that you're in Tuscany and stop by Alexis Bailey's spring open house?

Taste some wine, enjoy some snacks, play a little bocce. AB is about 2 Miles south of Hastings just east of Hwy. 61. The Mouse and I will be there 'round 1:30 or 2:00.

josh... we're pretty sure it was you in stillwater that we saw. we were sitting outside on an open patio enjoying the fruits (ok, barley) of our scooting labor. We even yelled your name and I thought you looked, but maybe not. You hanging with bikers, man? that was cool.
