Minneapolis has installed some new traffic cameras, which will automatically ticket if you run red lights. If there are group rides, it might cut into the "Blocking" activity.

Imagine, 100 scooterists get tickets for running a red : )

They claim that for the first month they are only issuing warnings. It would be fun to get a scooter posse together to for "the running of the red." Besides it would be a good test for the new system. It is like a civic duty kind of thing, right??

i wonder how this will affect the new "red light law"
Apparentley, if a motorcycle is stuck at a red light for a period of time, it is now legal to pass through it as long as no cars are around.

I drive bus for Metro Transit and I regularly go through most of those intersections. I'm pretty sure the ones I know are all timed, not triggered. (Gotta know when to hurry to catch a green, and when it won't matter. Do a route enough and I notice stuff like the light at 28th and Park changes at 5:11:45 every afternoon.)

But yeah, I guess if the lights are malfunctioning it might get interesting.

Yeah, it could be like a civic duty to try it out. I wonder if they take the picture from the front or back?

Scooters have no front license plates : )
