Hoping to hit an open track day either Oct. 15th or 28th. If anyone else wanted to go that would be cool. It's in Marshalltown, about 4-5 hours away. Jacket. gloves, boots are all they require but full leathers would be smrt.

Maybe we can prove who actually 'rides'!

Got it.

Remember: the best of the Maid-Rites is in Marshalltown, and you can buy alcohol at both the Wal-Mart and the Hy-Vee. I'm just sayin'...

Anyone have a suggestion for track tires? Zippy 3's? Or should I blind everyone with the Conti whitewalls?

I gotta say the beer selection at the Hy-Vee gas station was most impressive, we didn't check out the actual store.

Zippy 1's for sure. I could probably have loaner tires for the day.

Geez, I found a site that discusses scooter prep for the Iowa track--safety wiring and all that crap. I'm going to try my local source again. I know the BMW club ran straight-off-the-street bikes in June. Lights and mirrors intact, even!

Where did you find that? That's not true, just need stuff tight and not leaking. Hell they don't even require leather pants they sure aren't going to care about safety wire. Lock nuts are a good idea though.

Also need a breather for your blinker fluid reservoir.

From the site

You will want to make sure that your motorcycle doesn't leak fluids and has good tires & brakes.

so pretty relaxed so everyone should try it.
