How kid-friendly are the bouts? I'd like to take my nephew, but his mother is skeptical.
The skaters' names are often double entendres, and there's some hitting. The girls will often swear at opposing players, but they're not miked, so unless you're pretty close to the track, you can't hear them too well. There are a lot of kids' birthday parties at the bouts.
Kids 9 and under are free!
Super Secret Elite Scooter Club (membership: 1)
and there's usually a kid's activity between periods.
meaning they get to run around the track wiith a roller girl. and then they win a prize.
the bands at 1/2 time have been known to go pretty loud, if there's a noise level concern.
but there is a family section. it's on the side with the bleachers opposite the penalty box, so you wouldn't hear a lot of the swearing that goes on from that side of things.
thought i would share
The bouts are pretty family friendly and have been more sanitized since I started exposing my kinder to them at 9yrs and 12 yrs last season.
I'm kinda Taliban when I screen my kids choices. I'd say no problem.
We have balcony and main floor tix available, both $10, and we'll probably have a bunch 'til the last four days. Then they'll be gone and we'll get 30 calls on the last day. That's how it went last bout.
