[quote="fnirt"]So here's my update(s)

3. I'm not sure what "F" from Grantsburg north is. That may actually be gravel, as well.But Grantsburg to Siren on 48 would cut us over to 35 if need be.

"F" out of Grantsburg is one of my favorite back roads on the way to Duluth. It is all paved and goes right through a wildlife refuge. Very cool, but pretty long. Make sure to stop on either side before venturing in. You will feel like you left civilization on the way through. Also be careful for the turns.

I doubt I will be able to make the ride, but I will try.

I pulled the pin and reserved a room at Motel 6. It got good reviews on trip advisor and a non-smoking room was $54 through Orbitz.

I checked the mapquest and Motel 6 and the Best Western are about 5 miles apart. Best Western is more North while Motel 6 is closer to downtown.

http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&ct=NA&rsres=1&1a=200+South+27th+Ave.+West&1c=Duluth&1s=MN&1z=&2a=2400+London+Road&2c=Duluth&2s=MN&2z=

If you're going, you should probably reserve a room soon. It gets a little tight in Duluth when fall colors start.

I just made my reservation, as well. $54, and that's not even mentioning my AAA, if there is a discount.

No pool, so we're going to have to swim in the lake. Superior in September is still in a liquid state, for the most part.

Now who's going to find some Duluth Scooterists?

Call me 01d 5k001, but I just made my reservation by phone at the Motel 6 for $60. I wanted to make sure they reserve a crib...

So does the Motel 6 have a minibar?

Okay, so we're meeting again tomorrrow night after the TNR at Betty's. Considering that the sun now sets at 7:40, we'd better get going pretty much right at 7:00, and even at that it'll be dark by the time we get to Betty's.

I have a 15L seat bag coming this week (hopefully) from cyclegear, and combined with my 42L topcase that probably means I have about as much storage as anybody. So I was thinking I'd bring some tools. I know Dave is bringing spare parts such as clutch and throttle cables, spark plugs, etc., and I always carry some plugs. But I'm thinking I'll bring along my metric socket set, a selection of screwdrivers, some pliers, and a couple small wrenches. Any other tools I should bring along? Eight (maybe seven) scooters designed in the 1970s means it's likely we'll have at least a minor glitch or two...

I was looking at the 7-day forcast - so far, so good.

See you tomorrow at Betty's at 8 pm. I'm not going on the ride - got to get home to hear the back-to-school stories.
