Betty's received a substantial amout (over $12,000) of donations over the last 24 hours and made a crucial rent payment today so they are open again and are all caught up on rent. There are two other smaller but still substantial accounts in arrears that will need to be taken care of soon, and this is what tomorrows benefit will help.
Long Live Betty's !!

Nah, that was just belated spring cleaning.

Come down, have a cup of coffee, and support a vendor that has supported your rally in years past.

Yes, it does matter.

I'm actually showing Faster in my back yard tonight, as luck would have it. I wonder if there's a way to roll this into the benefit...

Kevin, About 8:00PM this evening, Saturday 8-20-05, there must have been about 100 Motorcycles at Betty's...but Only about 4 Scooters, including mine. 4 people behind the counter and they were all Hustling to keep the line moving...10 to 15 people ahead of me.

I think it's neat that the Two Wheelers stepped up to try and help these folks keep the doors open. Kind of Pops the Ballon of those who think all Two-Wheelers are Self-Centered Neanderthals !

It would be Great if a few more Scooterists got there tonight. You said it will go all night tonight?

Thanks for keeping us all up-to-date on this happenine !

Ride Safe !

John C.

Well, when I arrived after 8 there were at least 4 Stellas, a Vino, a Chetak and one or two others I didn't get close enough to look at. Scooters definitely made a presence there.

What a great turnout! I regret not being able to stick around to see Faster--thanks for doing that Jeremy! It was great to talk to a few scooter folk while I was there.

Let's hope Betty's can stay open longer. Truly a great meeting place to start or end a ride, as well as just hanging out and socializing. The Twin Cities NEEDS places that welcome ALL types of motorized two wheelers.

Getting off of my soap box now,
K

Jo and her daughter were there. Mr Cunningham (Dave?) came on his People 150.

It was a nice crowd, I'm sorry that I missed the movie.

From the Betty's Forum:

"!!!!!!! SUCCESS !!!!!!!

WOW, What an amazing effort! The benefit was a huge success. Betty's is now officially re-opened for business. They are so amazed and appreciative of all the support and efforts of those in the community. I spoke with the team this afternoon and would like to pass on their thanks to all.

They are excited to move forward and have lots of work ahead. Business needs to keep flowing, of course. There will be a lot of promotion stuff coming up on the website soon. Keep spreading the word, and be sure to stop in often. They are looking forward to hosting any events/club/or group meetings you might have as well.

Betty's is officially holding their regular hours as of today. Look forward to seeing you there!

Carrie Hanson
Minneapolis, MN"

Score one for the little man!

RachelB and I stopped by for just a minute or two last night and I was amazed at how many people were there. Awesome show of support! I think RB was a bit overwhelmed by it all, but she commented that Betty's is cooler than Bob's (and WAY cooler than Starbucks).

...and if she ever needs glasses, she wants some like Josh has.
