TNR sounds kind of like TNA - not sure if that's bad or good.

BTW, after next week's TNR we're going to meet over at Betty's to figure out the Duluth Run - figured we'd wait till after the SD6. I'll make a separate post about it...

Heh. Mind, meet gutter. Gutter, meet mind.

When I wrote it out, it sounded to me like "The New Republic," a political magazine... which surely adds to my geek score... but there's still no way I would buying one of those Mopahs.

Could be a little chilly after the sun goes down. I should actually make it tonight!

It's going to be a gorgeous night for a ride. Grab your jacket & get your scootin' butts to the bandshell parking lot!

Can't come tonight. Kid's signed up for soccer again and I need to pick up school supplies

...sigh...

On the positive side, I found my air leak in the Chetak and I looking forward to Duluth

Why does your kid need school supplies for soccer?

Oh

It's soccer practice and school supplies. Though now I've just been talked into a run to the YMCA for swimming.

I can't wait until they get their driver's licenses. I'm going to dump the Escort on them and get a new GTS!

Thank you all! Tonight's run was a blast. Who knew that tootling an ancient, decrepit, horn under a bridge (OK, several times) could be so much fun! Not to mention the looks you get from passersby. Or were they comparing us to the Top Ten Wanted posters you see at the Post Office...

It was great to meet you, Kevin K and all the other new faces. What a ride and the bugs.

Yeah, the bugs. I was glad I was wearing my goggles - right up until the sun set and I couldn't see a damn thing...

It was fun to have so many new people - we had an orange stella along with 20 miles on it, just picked up earlier in the day. And Kevin was riding a 1980 PX200e with 19,500 miles on it, which makes it the highest-mileage scooter I've seen. It was a disjointed, relaxed, and noisy ride... and we finished! In the dark no less...

I have two ideas about the TNR that I'd like to put out there...

(1) How about we start *actually* leaving the bandshell at 7:00 sharp? Last week's ride ended in the dark, and though I don't mind riding in the dark, we're losing a little more light every week, and it's probably best to be really starting at 7.

(2) What about stopping at Betty's on the ride? I know this contradicts (1) above, but with their near-death last week, it might be nice to give a presence every week...

I'm what they call an idea man. I'll leave it to somebody else to put into practice. What do y'all think?

I think those are both fine ideas.

The Chetak is down at the moment, so I'll be unable to attend. I killed the battery on that stretch of unanticipated gravel near Oseola and I think I lost the low beam on my headlight as well. The battery was three years old anyhow...

On the plus side I've discovered that it's not the rectifier, a $77 part. It will run without a battery (with it taken out even). However I have no lights or turn signals.

Go for Betty's, I think it's a great idea. And you're right about leaving on time. No question.

That said, I won't be riding this week as I have an important appointment with a pronto pup. :)
